We love our local producers. As part of our focus on responsible and green tourism, and because some of the best wines, cheese and meat are produced around us, our kitchen makes primarily use of local produce, while our wine list is stacked with wine producers from around Bartholomeus Klip, including Bosman Family Vineyards, Kloovenburg, Sadie and Saronsberg.
We have invited winemaker Roelof Lotriet and head of marketing Nelis Strydom from Jean Engelbrecht Portfolio to introduce new, exciting regional wines that pair well with our kitchen. “This is an evening about regional fine wines as much as about Louise Gillett’s exquisite food,” says Nelis. “We have selected the Donkiesbaai and the Stellenbosch Reserve ranges for this unique occasion – boutique wines that are handcrafted with the same love and passion for the terroir as Louise Gillett’s for regional produce and traditional farm kitchen.”
With a background of 7 generations of grape farming and wine making, Jean Engelbrecht has been synonymous with South African fine wine for over 15 years. His Portfolio showcases a selection of the finest wines from the Cape Winelands, including Donkiesbaai and The Stellenbosch Reserve range. Donkiesbaai Wines pay tribute to the unspoilt natural beauty of the West Coast, and aims to translate this honesty into its bottles. The Stellenbosch Reserve pays homage to the history, cultural tradition and terroir of Stellenbosch.
