Bring the whole family to Nederburg in Paarl on Saturday, February 20, for the annual “Harvest at Dusk” event and discover along with the winemaking team what to expect from the 2016 wine grape harvest.
Nederburg’s refreshing sparkling wine will be served on arrival, together with delicious mezze platters, at tables set up under the old trees on the lush Nederburg Manor House lawn. Enjoy stunning views of the vineyards and surrounding Drakenstein Mountains, and learn from farm manager Bertie Faure and new viticulturist Bennie Liebenberg how the harvest has been progressing. Bennie will also show different grape varieties and give you the opportunity to taste the fresh grape must before it becomes wine.
Against the backdrop of the setting sun, you’ll get to pick grapes while hunting for fabulous prizes hidden within the vineyards. Then join in the fun of stomping grapes and fully immerse yourself in the traditional way of making wine.
As dusk sets in, relax with live music by Sterling EQ, the South African award-winning all-female classical cross-over group, as you indulge in a bountiful harvest feast prepared by chef Edmore Ruzozo of The Red Table restaurant. Expect family-style table platters laden with farm-fresh salads and vegetables, as well as top-quality herb-crusted sirloin steak, rolled pork belly and delicious tagliatelle with herb-roasted vegetables. Dessert will not disappoint with delectable mini chocolate cakes and lemon cheesecakes.
A wide selection of Nederburg’s delicious wines will be available for purchase, as will soft drinks, mineral waters, coffees and teas.
Guests are advised to wear hats, sunscreen, comfortable clothing and shoes.
