The well-loved r&b/pop group The Rockets is to perform as part of the Garden Theatre Picnic Series at the Afrikaanse Taalmonument in Paarl on Friday 27 January 2017. The picnic series is held in aid of the Laat ons lees! reading project for children.
The Rockets are multiple SAMA nominees who have topped many radio station and official charts. Their Afrikaans hits, “Namakwa Daisy” and “Ek is Lief Vir Jou”, are receiving extensive airplay. They have supported many international acts in South Africa and have performed in Australia, the Middle East and Africa.
The show begins at 19:30 in the Garden Theatre, located on the lawn right at the foot of the monument. The gates open at 17:00. Visitors are welcome to bring their own drinks (no glass) and picnic basket or they can order one (at R250 for two persons or R350 with a basket included) from Volksmond Coffee Shop (tel. 021 863 2800). Volksmond will be open for coffee, beer, wine and light refreshments.
Tickets are pre-sold at Computicket and the Taalmonument, at R100 for adults and R30 for children under 13 year. No smoking or chairs are allowed in the Garden Theatre. Remember to bring a blanket or cushion and warm clothes. Safe parking is available and access is controlled.
